Siemens Releases its Innovative Modular Safety System – The SIRIUS 3RK3
The 3RK3 modular safety system from Siemens is a software-parameterizable safety relay. The core of each MSS is the central module. The quantity structure (the number of inputs and outputs) can be easily modified using expansion modules and can thus be freely adapted to different applications. Using a bus module, the MSS can be connected via PROFIBUS to host systems. Safety functions are parameterized quickly and easily using the MSS ES software.
The SIRIUS modular safety system 3RK3 Basic consists of:
- Central module
- Expansion modules
- DP interface module
- Parameterization software
It is used where more than three safety functions have to be evaluated and where parameterizing the wiring of safety relays would be very time-consuming and expensive. Siemens thus offers an integrated portfolio covering safety solutions.
The MSS can be used in a wide range of industries worldwide for many different applications, up to Category 4, in accordance with EN 954-1, Performance Level E in accordance with EN 13849-1; and up to SIL 3 in accordance with IEC 61508.
